About Zachary Typhair

Zachary Typhair lives and works in the Pittsburgh District in Kingston as an insurance agent, where he works directly with residents and understands the everyday challenges they face. He also serves on the board of the Limestone City Co-operative Housing, where he contributes to decisions that support affordable, stable, and community-focused housing.

He is running for City Council to address infrastructure gaps in the Pittsburgh District, ensure growth is properly planned and supported, and help ease pressure on future tax increases through responsible decision-making. Zachary previously served as Chair of Kingston’s Environmental Advisory Committee, where he focused on practical, local solutions that balanced protecting green space with
responsible growth and climate preparedness.

He is actively engaged in City Council and planning decisions, with a focus on infrastructure, housing, transportation, and how Kingston grows in a way that is sustainable and properly supported. He believes Kingston should not expand its urban boundary until the necessary infrastructure is in place to support it. Growth must be planned responsibly prioritizing roads, transit, and services in existing neighbourhoods, especially in the east end, before expanding outward.

If elected, Zachary will serve as a full-time councillor, fully accountable to the residents of the Pittsburgh District and the greater Kingston area.

His approach is straightforward: listen to residents, communicate clearly, and ensure residents have real opportunities to provide meaningful feedback that helps shape practical decisions for the community.
